I learned a cleaver trick over last few years to get a worn out sticking mechanical advance mechanism to start and rev up and settle right back to idle down as low as 400 rpm, but takes some of the spunk out of a Combat. Ya stagger each of the contact breakers adv curve so one is too retarded and the other too advanced then split the difference by ear and feel. Its a delicate tedious process I don't want to do no more and mech adv can get so worn sticky even above makes for an over reving over heating beast at stops.

Shopping for electro ignition that retains the factory 6 v coils and prefer it not being a Rita nor a Boyer and has fast rise adv curve like points for under $200.

I kept my stock coils with the Tri Spark...you put them in series instead of parallel and bingo, 12v!

That would leave you with no choice at all.
Even the Pazon Sure-Fire doesn't meet the fast advance curve part of the criteria.

Ugh, just what I feared, sluggish response or way more money and strange items to view or hide. Not sure I'm cut out for this hobby or mechanics in general. Limited to zero turn rider mowing motor sports a while longer. May try putting back the 2nd mech adv Trixie came with in mean time on which I was able to put on 30 miles w/o too much fear or frustration.

Yesterday when unable to dial back power or feather clutch to cross the 'soft section' to hard driveway I took the funner way to hard ground nailing it up 30' berm loving the pull up hill just short of catching air at top. Saw Wes out a mile then hung tail between swing arm and feathered and rev'd back into shed.

Marino at M.A.P. Cycle has Pazion Sure Fire that retains 6v coils and works at 8 volts so don't even need no stinking battery, for $140 F*ederal A*udit U*nit D*emoninations [its official Federal Reserve Bank designation to rub our noses in their spoofing us.
