Had my original tail lamp/number plate bracket fail a few weeks back, from what seemed to be a departed fixing screw at the forward end of the lamp fairing into mudguard. The bracket plates had sheared in half right along the bend 'tween lamp and number plate sections.
Rather than attempt a weld up repair, opted for a new bracket as the original also had issues with the turn signal mount points.

New appeared to be rather poorly made. Unknown if a re-pro or new old stock but assumed the former. Turn lamp bracket angles not near 90 deg to each other and lower mudguard fixing point with welded nuts quite a bit out of position to guard holes.

Anyway got it sorted ok to fit up and have been riding it for past three wks or so. Today started hearing a small rattle and ultimately discouved that lower guard mounting bracket has failed, both bends right at where the captive nuts are.

So, back to drawing board here. Chase down the shop the sold it to me? Get an up-rated bracket welded on? Re-vist the original for a weld up?

The 06.3724 number plate and tail lamp mounting should be braced by the 06.3727 support bracket (Item 25) that is attached between the 06.1121 mudguard clip rear bolt and the plate at two points so a lost tail lamp fairing screw alone shouldn't have caused the breakage.

Yes that connecting bracket was all in tact. The fairing does seem to provide for some added stability to the whole assembly as it was flopping about a fair bit without that forward most screw in place. Anyway, that was the original plate fail. The replacement is another matter...no bolts/screw missing. Just fatigued the two captive nut angle brackets right at lower mud guard fixing points.
By co-inky-dink, this happened today while out on the same long distance 200 mile ride as the last failure. I jury rigged the lower plate to prevent annoying rattle and erosion of the stainless guard by stuffing some twisted up plastic bags 'tween plate holder and guard, and a few wraps of e-tape I carry in my tool pouch. Did the trick nicely. Maybe this points to a future mod of placing some rubber or foam at those fixing points to take some of the resonance out.

The CNW bracket is nice and sturdy and doesn't fall apart. My old one broke in the same places and had it welded once. The CNW is simpler and holds everything together.
Does this work with the 850 type rectangular lamp or just the older 750 "beehive" type?

Got a response from CNW, they have no bracket for the later type rear tail light, theirs is only for the older beehive type.

So besides changing the period correctness of the rear, would need to change rear lamp and the rear fairing to suit it.
