welding timing cover

I welded the "Norton" on this cover for reasons I shouldnt say but it wasnt as successful as I had hoped with a bit of porosity but JB weld and silver paint fixed that. In your case, a bit of porosity probably wont matter

"for reasons I shouldn´t say"??? Wrong approach, that just makes everyone really want to know  But what about those rocker shaft plates? Your own design?

standard outer rocker plates drilled and tapped and screws loctited
for registration purposes its not really what it looks like

Well, the friendly welder is back from holidays and presented me with this:
welding timing cover

Looks fine to me, but he says there is minor porosity.Other than that, it apparently welded easily.
For the record, it warped by about 1mm, easily milled flat. The biggest pain was holding it with the gasket face up for machining. Done now, but does anyone know how the factory did it?
