Hello,
I'm looking for a roadster seat in good condition for a 1973 Commando 850. Looking for one in good shape. Thanks!

It's a beautiful seat but I don't think it's "correct" for my 1973. I believe mine would be the pattern with squares on it.

Attached is a photo. The current seat is great but it's a dark brown that matched a previous owner's paint scheme.

That's the 850 Mk3* pattern cover.
850 Mk1 was basket weave.

*(Also sold as Roadster Mk2 065234 although the original/early Mk2 cover didn't have the side seam)

Thanks! This explains why a lot of my searches were coming up with the basket weave style. I guess it makes sense that since my seat is a dark brown that it isn't the original.

Is there any consensus on a favorite seat or are they all pretty much the same aside from the patterns?

Serial number 311xxx is Mk2.

Mine is just the all black version , and very costly up here , the Corbin on my Griso was best part of $900 when it landed here , I do find them comfortable seats and like the looks , but they not for everyone ….

That is a lot.. I've never had one and have considered them for multiple bikes, but never pulled the trigger. It's hard to know a seat well without putting a thousand miles on it, so it seems like you just gotta try it to see.

Here's my current seat. After seeing other black Commandos it often seems like the black seat is a bit lighter than the paint, but I swear mine is brown. In some light it looks black though.

Try some black shoe polish on it if it bothers you. Don't use Armor-All or you'll be sliding off the back!
