Having to relocate my Sparx regulator due to Corbin seat bracket conflict. Was told that the reg HAD to be mounted on a flat frame surface so it could bleed heat off better. Unfortunately that choice seems to be a luxury. I've got it zip tied solid to the large center frame tube just behind and above the battery. Has a lot more airflow there than the stock mounting. Shouldn't more surface area exposed to air be a better method of keeping this cool? I checked it after a nice long ride, and it was barely warm. Thoughts?

You're going to incur the largest heat load under a high rpm, low usage condition. If your state laws allow, make a blast down the highway with no lights on, then do a quick check of the reg's temp. If you're running the stock 120W stator, I'd imagine you'll be fine. I run a 200W with the Podtronics stuck to the side of the battery bracket, and never had any concern of its temp, and that's with double-sticky foam (a great thermal insulator) and behind the side cover.

My Sparx regulator is screwed to the back of the air filter box, but that would depend on what year your bike is.
