Have a nephew and his family in from NF. I'm amazed when they're speaking by the accent. Great folks, quiet well behaved kids, and they seem to enjoy the beach sand as a change from the rocks they have for beaches. They do find these 90 degrees temps and high humidity somewhat uncomfortable.
They also like the larger selections we have in the stores too..... Good point is they dislike stump-toe just as much as everyone else. No moose meat this time... Love that stuff.

Enjoy their visit.
I have been all over NFLD many times . Did a lot of great fishing there .
The locals were very friendly and went out of their way to help and offer things to me . Like their cabin , their boat and I had never met them in my life .
had many fun talks with them .
they are some of the nicest people I have met in North America .
tell them I said hello .

The east coast of Canada is all very friendly , for reasons I can’t explain , but I have no wish to live anywhere else !

Derek , both my wife and I were born in same town we still reside in , so maybe a bit of slant on my view , non the less the friendly to visitors thing is very true …. a bit more challenging when taking up residence in another town even if it in same County , that another thing … as I worked 4 yrs in other small town 90 minutes away , had a bachelor pad through week and home most wknds except during snow plowing season …. I would say most were glad to see me leave …. As I had been hired to modernize their Town which meant change .. …which got done

I bicycle toured The Rock for 21 days subtract 3 days in N.S.
From Halifax to Sydney, overnight ferry to Port aux Basque then up the coast to St. ANTHONY'S back down and across to St John's through Twillingate, Lewisporte, Gander, ending up camping at Pippy campground waiting for my flight back. Pretty well every type of weather imaginable. Water Street in St. John's is a bar hopper's delight with plenty of music and fun loving folks.
Screech(scrutt), fish and brewis, flipper pie and jig's dinner are a few of the delightful staples to try. This part of Canada is well worth seeing, along with the rest of It.

I do know Shawn and family certainly love it there. They don't mind the winters there, but our temps are hurting them badly here on the coast.

Ah yes, gotta love them "noofs"... "I'ze de bye dat rows de boot, I'ze de bye dat sails her!"

If you think that accent is odd, this is how we talk down in Shediac
