valve cover stud

Does anyone out there know the size and thread of the inlet valve cover stud. I`m after two nuts so i can remove it from the head.
Ive tried various nuts from different parts of the bike but none seem to fit.
The head steady nuts screw on about 2 turns then tighten up, must be a rare thread .

Rare? No, the nut end should be 5/16" - 26 Cycle thread.

Yeah, if you pull one of the nuts off the con-rod bolt, it'll fit. There's not too many of that size external on the bike, maybe on the gearbox, or one of the engine stud nuts? But I don't think so.
