USA 961 Sales.. (2011)

There has been a lot of frustration to say the least about the 961 delivery’s to the US. I have been waiting two years now for the bike to arrive. My dealer has called a stated my bike is on the boat headed to US soil. They even provided me with a VIN. Norton has a picture of crates being loaded into a truck. Hopefully those are bikes that are actually heading to the US. I was told my bike will arrive in about two weeks. It’s a black Café Sport Dual. I wanted the solo but at this point I’m tired of waiting and I’ll take whatever I can get. I’m new here on this forum but I promise a full report upon the bikes arrival.

I'm also anxious of hearing a forum members report/opinion on the "New" Norton (and pictures) ... thanks for posting !

Dynamite photos. Love the pipes. Curious about the luggage assembly. Where did it come from and how is it mounted? Still waiting on a dual seat Sport. The dealer assures me before the summer but still vague. Sigh

simply amazing. did anybody tell u the spec of the motor ?? iron sleeve or nykisil plated ?? seems strange the people waiting 4 years have yet to get their bike, but people waiting 2 years get a delivery. and norotn is quiet as a church mouse on this.....

RACK HOME MADE - A rack for the Dual seat is easy as there is a thick steel plate to bolt to. The single seat has plastic, so it worked out good as this bike is a dual seat.

Thanks, Richard. I got impatient and bought the Sport single in black. I still have a Bonnie for the Missus to hop on so I'm ok. I'm loving the bike. It has some real grunt with the optional pipes.

I realize that this thread is very old but the topic is sort of similar to my question. How is the resale value of a Dominator in the USA? I'm giving some serious thought to unloading my car and buying a new Dominator. Both of them are pretty similar in price. Do you think it may be like a Ducati/Triumph/Aprilia where the value drops considerable once it's off the showroom floor? I have never bought a bike new for this reason but I doubt I will find a used Dominator anywhere near to me. Should I just buy a new MV Agusta instead because they maintain their value pretty well? (Not meant to upset the Norton folks.) I appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

It’s a good question sir.

My thoughts are that it would indeed drop. I think it has too whilst new ones are still available.

But they won’t be available for ever, and prices will start to climb rapidly, so it’s definately a good candidate for ‘future classic’ status IMHO.

So, it’d be a poor short term investment, but a good long term one I think.

I hope you're right because I'm doing my best to hang onto bikes for great lengths of time. I'll have my '71 commando for many many many more years. I'm also wondering if Norton (UK) Ltd. will sh*t the bed in a few years and parts will be very difficult to find. Thanks for your response.
