With UPS, you have to create an account to get actual detailed tracking. On the tracking page there is a place to login or signup - do that and the tracking details will be more.  It's very disconcerting today to see the tracking not change for 4-6 days when we're used to most things going by air.


Even then when signed up, ground does not update except when it changes trucks.  You can request text or email updates if signed up.  I do so I have more records if something goes wrong. 


USPS ground is usually much faster and has better tracking.  But for big or heavy they may not be an option and/or may cost more. Their "ground" rarely actually goes cross country by truck.
