Hi All,
someone knows a CHAINCASE SEALING BAND update?.
May be a thick sealing band?.
Thank you.
Piero

"Sealing Band" implies you want one for an Atlas or Dominator. An "O ring" would be for a Commando.

Slick

If you mean the regular Commando large O-ring for the chain case, I find it useful to put the O-ring in the groove with silicone and the use a very light smear of silicone on top of the o-ring and then install the outer cover.

DogT's method works for me too ..... never a drop of ATF escapes ..... "great old minds" work the same I guess ...
I also make sure the mating surfaces are spotless before I start the process ...

Also make sure the outer case is flat and the inner case is not bent from installing the wrong shim behind the center stud that goes to the cradle.

I once had a non-Andover chaincase o-ring that was thicker, sort of neoprene possibly. I have no idea where it came from, it was on one of two Norton choppers I rescued with a BSA chopper.

It was hard to look at...

If you guys want to argue about the correct name, the parts list calls it a "chaincase band rubber"

So there you go - you're all wrong! :P

I have used automotive 1/8" windshield wiper vacuum hose successfully.
Nice and pliable as it is a hose rather than solid rubber.
Intended for use on 1/8" OD fittings, but fits the primary cover groove perfectly.

Metric dimensions are approximately 5.5mm OD and 2.25mm ID.

I hope you did something good with that chopper, otherwise the rescue would be wasted. lol

Yup ... I had one of those soft rubber neoprene sealing bands for a while ..... worked as good as the o-ring style .... maybe a bit easier to install ... only ever saw that one , it had arrived in bunch of used parts .... called Brit Cycle to replace it when time came and ended up with o-ring style again ...
