Unknow cam valve adjustment

Wondering if there's anything wrong with dialing in ones own
valve clearance the old school way by ear on running engine
but instead of Chevy V8, a Commando?

Set rockers slightly loose or just get running with where its at,
then close clearance till motor rpm drops then back off 1/4" turn
or until loud ticking again then close till smoothest sound all around.

Not that much oil spray-splash out of Norton Rocker boxes,
when opened at low speed that is.

OK on a water cooled head with hydraulic lifters. On the air head Commando set at cold then whats going to happen when hot? I'd leave this one alone.

Yes would attempt Cdo solid lifter adjusting after run up to operating temps.
Guess only one way for me to find out for sure : (
