The rotary principle does not change, then or now, small or large. If they done it then, they can do it now, but the heat removal will still a problem.
Sir Ralph Speth will join TVS in Jan '23, he will move over from TATA.
And yes, it seems that TVS and Warwick University have produced a TT electric bike in a record 7 months according Visordown, if a bunch of students can do it the help of TVS why can't Norton.

I’m all for TVS taking their sweet time and getting it right - we’ve had enough half-assed models as we can all attest. Imagine if they introduced further bike/models with design flawes and technical issues? Disaster!

That said, they need to get their systems of spares provision etc sorted soonest If they are gonna keep current owners happy.

Are you going Clive? If so please ask what their plans are for support of existing bikes and if they are not going to continue to support them, release the suppliers such as Omex, Jenvey, Jumo, VDO etc. to sell direct.
 
The new boss must have entered with a bigger broom than Russell, understandable for Russell who needed to steady the ship and now the new boss gets a proper engineer of his choosing. Hopefully that is what has happened.

I assume "head of design" is a management guy in charge of the design team, who also has the "vision" of the company's future offerings, based on experience and research. "Senior designer" (in my mind), is the most senior designer on the team of actual artists, draftsmen, and engineers that produce the actual designs.

Head of design may not be an engineer or an artist, may not even know how to draw, or have in-depth technical knowledge of the product(s) being designed. They knows how to herd cats, and they know what the boss wants ...

I totally agree. I was just picking up on the previous posts that were wondering whether Simon Skinner had moved on, based on a new advert for a Senior Designer, whereas in a recent interview he was described as Head of Design. Either way I can't see why they would keep him on given the history.

I agree and hope your right . Let us not forget that all of this happened under his watch . I can also understand why TVS would want to still squeeze every last bit of information from him first !

Not really, as reported in the Hindu Times 4 days ago. The TVS CMD, says that production and sales of Nortons will commence in first half of 2022. But then goes on to say some parts relating to TVS business are in short supply with delays of 3 - 18 months. Work that one out, sounds like more crap to me.
He also mentions that TVS Motor maybe hit due reduction of exports to Myanmar and Sri Lanka, being major markets for them.
Looks like the CMD has some strange advisors, or is lacking an appreciation of global motorcycle industry if he is coming out with this. Yet again, more info from India than Solihull about what's going on. Makes the new directors look just like yes men.
 
They aren't turning their backs on the 961, Garner sold manufacturing rights to a Chinese company. Also there is absolutely nothing to say they won't be making Commandos. They have a new interim factory, I think they intend making bikes, give them a chance lol
From my understanding, the Chinese bought rights to build the 961 unit under licence ie to copy it, rather than outright ownership.

Jinlang bought the "worldwide rights" to the 961 engine platform.
Not sure exactly what all that allows them to do, but doesn't seem good for TVS production of 961's.
Would TVS buy 961 engines from Jinlang, and shoehorn them into Commando frames?
If so, why would they do that?
No, I think if we do at some point see new 961's, they won't be Commandos, probably 961 Fiery Dragons, or Pandas...
