TTI gearboxes for $300.......

That's the price of a 3d printer!
Had a box scanned to help with making some special engine plates. That didn't work out ,so thought I may as well make use of the scan for a bit of silliness.
For the record, its a XHD 4 speed with a low first :)

Would have been nice to have one for finding that they don't fit in a Manx without some machining.

Actually, it would be nice to use the 3D model to fit into bikes, modify it it accordingly so it actually DOES fit into bikes, and send it to Bruce.

He could then use it to modify his Norton gearboxes so that they, well, fit Norton’s (a bit radical I know) !

Are you talking about his Commando boxes?

Commando boxes have the mounts "clocked" differently than pre-Commandos...

(actually, it's the other way around, because pre-Commandos were, well, PRE Commando)

I’m talking a Commando box, for a Commando. They just don’t fit and a lot of metal has to be removed from the cradle to get them to do so.

I reckon the casting is about a foot thick in places...

Ah, so...

Depending on your intended use for the Commando, You might be better off with a close ratio 4 speed Norton box fitted with the standard Commando first gear. You could do it for about $700 instead of $5000 for a TTI. The only disadvantage with 4 speeds close ratio, is in getting the bike rolling from stationary. The jump from Commando 1st to close ratio 2nd, is not so big that you cannot live with it.
Some of the guys who race in America might have 4 speed close ratio gear clusters they have replaced with TTI boxes. This forum would be a good place to start looking for a cheap gear set.

To do this mod described above, you only need to change 3 gears in the box, it was a easy mod but I don't remember which gears.

I have bought a 6 speed TTI box to replace my 4 speed close ratio Norton box. The only reason for doing that is that most of our races these days are clutch starts and when you accelerate away from the start into the first two corners, you need to do it like a blur. The 4 speed close ratio box was perfect everywhere, but what you lose at the start of a race is extremely difficult to regain. For a road bike the first gear in the close 4 speed box, would be too high for the traffic lights, but a Commando 1st gear would get you rolling fast enough to get a smooth change into 2nd.
