View attachment 5032 A later update to this thread for those fitting TTi boxes...
I have a Mk2A 850 fitted with a Mk3 850 engine cradle and swing arm. The TTi box "almost" fits straight out of the crate, with only minor modification needed to the cradle on the drive side - approx 6mm/ 0.25" of material needs to be removed on the drive side plate in an arc from the 9 o'clock to the 10 o'clock position, as viewed from the drive side.
I'll post some pics shortly.
If TTi made one more simple cut to the gearbox housing on the same plane as the drive side mounting surface, the TTi box would fit the Mk3 850 cradle with no modifications required. I'll send a video I made of the area needing attention to Bruce Verdon, the owner of TT Industries. They're less than 5 mins from my home. Bruce told me when I met up with a few weeks ago that he's been (pleasantly ) surprised by how many road bike orders he's getting for his Norton box these days. Until recently, most of the orders were for race bike use. With a few minor cuts to the housing in the manufacturing phase, they'd be a much simpler fit for road bike use.

Aren't the mounting lugs on a featherbed gearbox case .25" wider than a Commando? It sounds like they only want to make one case for all AMC gearbox applications.

johnfitzw,
What final sprocket are you using? Store bought or custom?
I like it.
Cheers,
Thomas

Hi Thomas.. That's a 22T TTi sprocket in the photo

I'll be running that in conjunction with a 29T front engine sprocket (w stock triplex chain and stock rear wheel sprocket.
60mph comes up at approx 3500rpm in top... just where I wanted it.
The 29T engine sprocket has to be one of the best mods I've made. On a well tuned road bike it gives the bike a delightful long legged when winding out through the gears, with plenty of performance for overtaking ..

Somewhat puzzled why you are using the Maney outrigger. Im sure the TTI box can handle the load of the clutch without it.
Especially if you go with a BNR belt set up.
Perhaps just a belt and braces view of things.
Onder: If your question was for me.. I'm NOT using a Maney outrigger.
I was going to add one when I was thinking of sticking with the stock 4 speed gearbox with its' bendy carrot mainshaft. ..but decided a TTi box didn't need any additional support PLUS Id have the pleasure of an extra gear.. :-)

I’ll be fitting one of these soon, so any more specific details you can post would be appreciated.

Roger Roger...More pics and instructions on the way, FE
I'm making haste (slowly :) ) to get the bike ready for airfreighting to the US in 10 days time, for my own personal Zen And The Art of Norton Maintenance six month tour of the US.

It's a bare frame at present so I'd better get my skates on..

Wow, bare frame to shipping in 10 days?!
You’d best crack on and not worry too much about the photos mate!
Instead you can furnish us with updates and pics from your US tour!!
