Trouble at Mill

Good thinking,Ken, - JAYMAC might lend you his, it is just nicely run in...& the Great White Dyno would be a great marketing management opportunity ,for an official U.S. launch, credibility-wise - esp` if Al`s not there..

Happy 1st anniversary this thread, it has been a doozy & its still rating at quite a...er.. rate... Has S.G. himself ever commented, do we know?

Grain of salt... so to speak. All JAYMAC has to do is post his dyno run video...curious, really, that there aren`t any yet..His obfuscations will remain dubious & unconvincing otherwise.

How fast have you gone in your armchair? That's about all you seem do these days.

Why would I be bothered to do this, I don't really care myself it feels a lot quicker than my old 850 Commando and weighs around the same. At least the brakes work well which is more than I can say for the old one!

Not that I know of (unless he used an alias) but Simon Skinner 'skinthespin' posted here for a while.

Thanks L.A.B...
As for JAYMAC...Bother?.. really, now thats an odd description...for a [supposedly] involved enthusiast with the opportunity & where-with-all to proudly demonstrate what he`s earned...& share it with eager fellow forum members...or is it...JAYMAC...just all sales hype/fiction/B.S.?

Time to give it a rest J.A.W. otherwise I may have to consider sending you to the naughty bench for a while.

Ok, L.A.B.,- you have my respect, I `m sure others would still like to see the evidence though...

Thanks LAB, this is pointless we all know in the UK what the bike is capable of and I have no desire to go to the trouble of proving it myself. After all I'm not claiming that it will do 150 mph or produces 100 BHP so I can't see why all the fuss.

JAYMAC, has all the sports bike toys to compare better than the majority of rest of us so I'm paying attention. I can sure believe 961 gets more looks and rather pleased to hear how fun to ride. In real like my 70hp/365lb SV can barely reach 120 in time enough to ever temp me to hang on that long but it has no trouble keeping up with hottest bikes ridden eagerly except they can run away for a bit till SuVee catches up before they slow for next leaning event. Pretty cool he's got to take it on track and use its potential to see it ain't delaying or getting in the way of other riders. There was mention of hop up items but is there any around yet?

Just to say that the bikerglory SG interview has now taken place, and will be pubished just as soon as a couple of clarifications have been dealt with. This was a comprehensive encounter, as can well be imagined by anyone who read the original piece (http://www.bikerglory.com/?p=2177), discussed above. There has been criticism of the delay between publication of the original and the forthcoming follow up. Our argument is that significant events at Norton and others related to the company were unfolding, and going any sooner would have necessarily excluded some relevant fresh context.

During a break in the proceedings, I road tested a 961 Cafe Racer. Conditions were poor and time limited, nevertheless I was able to get a feel for the bike and have posted the review as a kind of short to the forthcoming main feature: http://www.bikerglory.com/?p=2973

I will post on here when we publish, hopefully next week.

the longest winded thread ?

I dont see the comparison, Delorean was never profitable, was it? I believe it had a complete history of growing loss.
Norton Motors has already turned a small profit.

" Norton Motorcycles buys Donington Hall, in Leicestershire, as a new HQ"

Mr Garner said turnover in the year to March 31, 2014, should rise from a seven-figure sum to eight figures.Last year, the company made a profit for the first time since Mr Garner bought it from a US businessman in 2008.

If we were to try a comparison, Delorean needed to produce 12,000 units per year to become profitable but only reached 6,000 at it's peak.
And then there is this -

" What followed is a matter of debate between the British government, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, theDrug Enforcement Administration, DeLorean, his investors, and the US court system. At some point in 1982, John DeLorean became the target of an FBI sting operation designed to arrest drug traffickers. He was arrested in October 1982 and charged with conspiring to smuggle $24 million worth of cocaine into the US. The key element of evidence for the prosecution was a videotape showing DeLorean discussing the drugs deal with undercover FBI agents"

So no, I do not think it is accurate to compare Norton to Delorean.
