When did Triumph start putting the double shoe front brake on the 500cc twin? Looking at the positions of the actuating cams I'm guessing that it's a single leading single trailing set up. As a long time (47 years) Norton guy I'm starting to look for a 500cc Triumph twin.

‘69 was, I believe, the first year some 500s (not all) got the TLS front brake.

The unit 500s, especially the later twin carb Daytona’s, are real rev monsters and don’t hang about. They’re light too and handle brilliantly. Definitely a true classic Brit bike.

Still not as quick as a decent 650 though, which in turn, aren’t as quick as a decent Cdo... just to put into perspective.

They’re physically small too, so might not suit the bigger built rider.

Hi
I have a 1969 T100R that I now have 95% of the parts ready for rebuild, I did a lot of research into the front brake as the bike was stripped down to just about the last nut and bolt when we got from a deceased estate.
What I ended up with is for the front brakes, T100R Daytona, 1967 8" SLS and maybe Later 7" TLS, 1968 on 7" TLS and maybe later 8" TLS and 1969 all 8" TLS not sure after that but conical hubs and a handful of disc brakes right at the end of production.
I was lucky as the wheel that was with it was correct at 8" TLS.
The deceased estate included a lot of Bonneville parts and it took a bit of time to sort the parts out, but luckily the frame (matching numbers to the engine) was there and the internals of the engine had been put into labeled tins and boxes.
