My broken trailer has been repaired ! Good Bye Canada ! Good Bye David and Richard Coote ! P.S. Please notice my smooth and powerful chrome starter !

You don’t have Nikasil though? I thought they changed to Nikasil coating with MKII bikes...

All the SE’s (in Canada) have Nikisil and almost all the 2014’s (in Canada) and newer (in canada) have Nikisil. Just for reference.

By the way; yesterday’s test ride loop was 64 miles. Ive ridden many times with three Nortons oh the music (never more though ... hmm ) but not often enough - everyone lives too far. Only on special visits for service . I’m looking forward to my parents neighbors place becoming a Norton club house. I’ll ask if I can hang a sign tomorrow.

Tony, don’t forget about the extra clutch steel plate we found. How’s your clutch feel with the proper amount? I forgot to ask after our ride.

Feels good , Sorry forgot . Yes there was an additional steel clutch plate in my clutch pack. We discovered that we couldn't fit all the plates in ! There should be 7 steel and 8 friction plates. It worked ok before , I couldn't tell the difference. But the transmission shifting is more precise for sure with the shift shaft ratchet spring fix.

On that smitch red one with the panniers. Can I get some info on them. Brand etc and are they easily removed. Or can the be installed for touring and removed when not. And thoughts on how they look and wether they detract for the Norton’s lines.

Also fellas you would have my bike tomorrow if I didn’t live down under.
Whilst I can work on the bike what you do is beyond me and bloody amazing.
Simon

The Bags are from Viking Bags , Large Lamallar (covered with leather like material also available uncovered shiny black) .
Saddle Bag Frames are from Blood Brothers .
The bags come off together with frames with 2 bolts per side.
I like the look of them BUT they are kinda large .

Thank you for clarification. I just didn’t know that with the coating you still see a cross hatch from honing...

So did you weld the crack or patch the trailer? Hope that was uneventful for the ride home. BTW, how far are you from the Falls area? I'm about a 10 hour ride. Oh....and this has been one of the most enjoyable reads on the forum since Richard from Kent visited and toured the US with a stop at the Cootes's, my area, Tony's and others. Thanks so much for posting this fellas. A breath of fresh air. Fresh Canadian air. lol

YES Nikasil and yes crosshatch honing .
I think I got it know. Nikasil is short for Nickel Silicon Carbide and this coating is applied directly on the alluminum of the cylinders and honed just like cast iron cylinder liners as the early 961s have.

About the same for me 609 miles Welland to Milwaukee.

More good news from the rebuild service at Cootes. Just got 53.303 MPG ! This obliterates my previous high of 49.4 MPG . Folks this is with Map [HASHTAG]#077[/HASHTAG] and O2 sensor deletes ! It just keeps getting better. The idle is good too. Can you believe an almost 4 mpg increase and smooth as a baby's butt ! I am stoked for a trip now .

I wonder if some of that is because we drive slower in Canada. lol

Or did you full up again ?

Yes , Filled up again and rode my loop. Its a real increase , substantial actually.

But both of those things (map and lambs delete) make things richer don’t they?

If so, how can it are you use less fuel?
