To keep or not

Thats is very cheap on EBay. You should find a buyer quickly at that price. I spoke to the factory regarding these and their comments were they underpriced them. Believe that or not, but the tanks and tail, the modifications needed created a load of extra work and cost for them. They said they made no money on these.

That tank is the best part of £3k alone
Thanks very much did have someone how was going to buy but due to a shoulder injury pulled out iam actually relieved as this is the second time I’ve thought of selling but think I’ve managed to find a way to keep it so will take it of the market bike lives to fight another Day

Hmmm, which one to buy eh? Here goes.

Even as a callow youth I'd convinced myself that I would have a brand new Harley on my 40th birthday! So in 1999/2000 I part-exed my 2 Jotas (a 180 and a 120 that the dealer had valued at £3,000 each) and £4,500 cash for a spanking new black FXDX. I got rid of that Harley after 4 months of hanging on like a preying mantis in a gale and I haven't had a dry eye since.

But what the bloody hell has that got to do with the price of butter and Nortons? I hear you all ask!

Over the millennia (well, almost 21 years) a rose tinted 6th sense super power grew inside me from the seeds of my burgeoning regret at selling my lovely Jotas. I now posses an almost Jedi-like grumpy old man awareness of future trends which is so reliable and accurate that I feel I can share my tuppence worth with you, my brethren.

Now...... at the severe risk of mixing my blockbusters;

"Only those who can feel the space between the lines will cast a light on the chosen path young Luke".

The wonderful thing about the Jotas is their glorious motors; hand built, over specified and beautifully SAND CAST motors. Just saying.....
I think Alwaysal wanted to know which is the best 961 to go for...probably one that has been sorted and has done a few miles....?

Cheers, it has been a journey purchasing a Norton, a few initial issues and a couple of lingering ones and now sorted (on the day of admin). It is a cracking looking machine especially with pictures taken at the right angles. Love riding it and fairly sure now I will keep it. Just look at it, expand the picture and marvel in the curves, it's bloody gorgeous

Yes I agree have a norton street looks better in the flesh did think I would have to part with it but Mrs has Told me to keep it

To keep or not

The real question should be.
Would you ditch a older bike like Christy Brinkley or Raquel Welch for a new bike like Miley Cyrus or Beyoncé.

I’ll keep Christy and Raquel aka Norton thank you.

Think of it like this. There is a poor guy on Facebook who paid £18k for his commando street a little while back on the promise it’d be built. Guess what, now has no bike and no money and looking down the barrel of a long fight to get it back.

Even if you don’t use yours like you intended, even if you sometimes question your bike decision, even if you could use the money. Just think of that guy, it should make those of us with bikes very grateful and fortunate to have them at home with us. (Btw I know in reality we shouldn’t feel fortunate to have something we paid for but it did make me feel I should count my blessings as i’ve definitely got it better than some)

I wholeheartedly agree with you. And I feel terrible for anyone who’s at a lost. But this is also the exact reason why anytime you have any kind of business deal, service or purchase done that you NEVER pay in full until the deal is completely done and you’re satisfied.

But I still hate the fact that every single victim has been screwed over. Totally wrong what Stuart / Norton has done.

I thinks SG started this company with good intentions. In desperate times, some folks will go through desperate measures to hold on to what they've built. Always seeing light at the end of the tunnel, leading to a train wreck.

Not this time I don’t think.
Murder and tax avoidance on the same level in governments eyes.

John DeLorean's struggle to keep afloat comes to mind.

Not to be pedantic chaps, but... tax ‘avoidance’ is a legal and correct method of an individual exercising prudence and using various schemes and methods to legally minimise their tax liabilities.

Tax ‘evasion’ is what puts you in prison.

Absolutely. I actually put down a £2K deposit on a new 961 with Teasdale Motorcycles. After reading on this forum about yet another problem with these bikes (valve guide wear I think) I decided to ask if I could have my money back. They surprised me by readily agreeing - and soon after they dropped the brand! D'you think they knew something?

SG's previous ventures all failed, Norton's demise was inevitable once he got involved, he is not someone who went bad in dire circumstances, he was already bad.
