It's a bit of a random question for a motorcycle forum
But recently the AC side of my Tig welder has stopped working
It's a boc murex tradestig single phase 240v 161
It's an older transformer type welder
The DC still works fine and I'm not sure what to check?
And I don't really want to electrocute myself as I believe there can be residual high voltage in these machines when disconnected from the power?
Cheers

Unless you are a qualified spark, I'll steer away from that one. But there is a whole websites on the internet, Practical Machinist a forum for Cnc laser, welding etc

If it has DC HF those are the circuits to watch out for with stored energy.

If there is nothing online as far as trouble shooting I would find a good welder repair shop to test the machine which I take is some form of inverter.

Well if it belongs in a motorcyclest workshop and if you build or restore your bikes a well equipped workshop comes in handy, I am hands on with my bikes and the more I can do in my well equipped workshop, but welders I leave those repairs to someone who knows what they are doing as they can bite.

Yep I've done the usual Google search
But found nothing to match the problem ,not on my specific machine at least
I've also posted the question on a welding forum but only yesterday
So I'll have to be more patient
Parts for BOC welders a notoriously expensive and I'm undecided whether it's worth repairing

I do all of my own bike work aswell
I am a fabricator welder by trade and having the AC so I can weld aluminium comes in very handy

I have used one those Lincoln's at work they are extremely good and reliable

I got my V200T around 2001 (contract pipe and purged tube welder) when they were close to $5000 RRP.
I retired it years ago now but it runs as good as the day I got it and will still do 150 @ 100% duty cycle (On three phase)
Its a garage machine now.

I should add the symptoms are it works fine on DC
But on AC all that works is the high frequency
There's no welding current at the gun even if you try to scratch start it
Cheers
