Removed broken link

The top link is for the Thiel website , The second link is for Ollie's email.

Just email him and tell him you want one of those dip stick removal tools for the Norton 961 . That's it!

Hi, used this link to order some super loud 961 pipes. Which means I'll be selling my Norton Factory loud (but not so loud) pipes if anybody wants them ;)

You went for it then Ben!

You’ll not regret it!

The baffles Ollie supplies look like a joke, but they work really well. Good enough for track day noise testing I hope.

We’re gonna be heard next time we go for a ride out !!

Brilliant, yep looking forward to running them. Bit expensive, but guess they are hand fabricated.

How quiet are those mufflers with the mutes in ? Not as quiet as the OEM Norton mufflers I hope ? I may want to run them with the mutes in if I bought a set . I remembered you had posted some photos of a baffle a while back . Is this the current baffle that Ollie is shipping now ? Can you post a picture and describe how the baffle is retained . No drilling I hope .

Tony, I’ve never run my bike with the standard exhausts so I can’t really say!

The pipes come pre drilled with a small hole on the underside of the end of the mega, mine came with the baffles fitted I think.

I’ll post some pics when I get home, will try and do a video too so you can hear it, I’ll get my 11 year old daughter to help me on that part Tony.

What I can say is that, with the baffles, above ‘town speeds’ ie 70mph ish, the exhaust pipe noise is barely audible above the wind noise. Whereas without the baffles, I can ALWAYS here the exhaust note!

I think it would be easy to experiment pipe cutting 1/2” at a time off of the baffle until you got the level of noise you wanted.

I’ll post some pics of the baffle and I think you’ll be like me: puzzled as to how they make so much difference!

It’ll be a couple more weeks before I can post the pics and videos.

Just fitted my Thiel short silencers.....

They sound excellent and expose the real character of the British bike I’ve been hankerings for! They are loud but I’m super happy. I don’t know why The factory doesn’t sell these pipes or an equivalent!?

However, i’m disappointed with fit of the pipes. I’ve spent a few hours fitting them today, (wife not happy, hey ho), and took the bike out for a ‘shake down’. Still not happy as the whole system seems pre-stressed and the AV mounts aren’t happy.

There is now a set of Norton Factory ‘loud’ mufflers for sale now :)

I could not agree more! You forgot to say that they just look ‘right’ too.

Do let us know how your fitment ‘finessing’ goes...

I have mounted on both bikes the short system without any fit problems.
I have loosen all clamps and mounting brackets, shake, push and pull a little bit and job was done.
Now I have seen Ollie´s adjustable decat pip. IMHO
So I can change oil without dismounting the pipes and decat or cat box.

Hi hi, fitment update......

Swapped the muffle brackets to sit inside the frame mounting points and the system relaxed a bit. My bad.

However, I had to shuffle both linkpipes and mufflers as aft as possible to ensure clearance to the swing arm and the rear wheel axle bolt. I also had to try wrap up the rear brake line out the way for the new muffler as it clashed. My observation is that the clearance is still marginal with exhaust sections shuffled to their maximum aft range.

My opinion remains, these pipes make the bike sound and look better than any other pipe combination I’ve heard on a modern twin Norton. But they are a tricky to fit.

Looking forward to my ‘back route’ commute tomorrow morning :) Not often you can say that about a Monday morning commute.
