There's those that don't etc. I stopped to take in the view, and check my rocker box wasn't leaking, on my run out today, Cleveland Hills, and a guy commented, lovely restoration of an old Commando! I breathed and after starting to explain and seeing the blank expression, nodded and shook my head sympathetically. Never been a one for polish but maybe it could do with some TLC.

I always try to explain but, unfortunately, am usually with my riding buddies who flatly refuse to miss any opportunity!

........ “looks good but normally goes home via breakdown truck” ......... chuckle chuckle.......“wait five minutes and it’ll spring a leak”.......chortle .....“it’s the 80 hp that scares me“ (says Andy from the seat of his V4S)....... pointing at stationary Norton “that’s the quickest I’ve ever seen it move” etc etc etc!

Makes explaining the recent history of Norton less satisfying for some reason:rolleyes:!

Don’t forget to polish yer helmet Al!

"You built that Cafe Racer?"....Hey.....in a world of Harleys, I love the attention. 20 Harleys, a Gold Wing and me.

The best one for me was when a husband and wife stopped, gave the bike a good look over and said "that's a nice Triumph!"

On getting the bike out yesterday a Grandad and Grandaughter stopped to ask if they could watch as I started her up. She's been going first time lately and didn't let me down, Grandad said There you go, a real British bike. I thought, if only he knew!

Frequent comment I’d get arriving at bike nights etc would be “have yer big ends gone” chortle, chortle. Referring (of course) to the primary drive clatter.

Both the wit and the clatter got tiresome fast !
