Here’s my plugs out of the 961. I did a proper plugs chop on a track day (WOT and killed the motor).

This is with the factory shortie map and Theil short pipes without baffles. Looks like the map and pipes are a pretty good match to me...

I carved a slot in a narrow bit of wood then rounded the inside ends to fit. Works fine, fits in the pocket and cost nowt. Get your old Scout woggle on and start whittling Nigel. I used a bit of English ash left over from a longbow.
me too, with cross slots in end of 40x40 mm length, and wrote Norton on side of stick too!

Ok. I need these Theil pipes for my commando. Do you still use your norton head pipes?
I wish I could read German.

Scott, yes you do need these pipes!

Yes, they fit on the stock down pipes and link pipe. I have the de cat link pipe.

Fitting them does expose the ‘uniqueness’ of these hand built bikes however as they do need some finessing to fit right.

I removed my link pipe, cleaned all the joints, lubed with copper slip, re assembled loosely, and then shuffled things around until I got a good fit. It took a little time and patience but it paid off.

They look, and sound, fabulous. Even the boys at the factory said so!

For someone as OCD as you, there is one small point you might wanna look at. They come with removable baffles (surprisingly effective ones too) and these are secured by M6 torx screws from underneath. If you have no intention of using the baffles, you might wanna get these holes welded up and polished, or ask Ollie if it’s possible to supply some without the baffles and holes. I just fit some small black grommets in the holes and you can’t see them unless you get really close.

I want the baffles for track day noise testing purposes. Ollie said they might run rich with them fitted, but the plugs still looked great when I tried them and, to be honest, I couldn’t detect any loss in performance either. For those who don’t like too much noise (when touring etc) the baffles are great.

I can assure anyone that they would not regret buying these pipes.

There's an English translator button on the Theil site. Or maybe I used Goolge to translate. Eddie's right. They sound great without the baffle. Much better than the OEM with the baffles in.

Eddie, when you refer to the factory shorty map, don't the maps have numbers. I've been talking the the AF1 dyno tech about reflashing my 14 sport. He never referred to or used that discription when we talked about which map to use.

I don’t know. All I know is they have maps for the different set ups, ie stock, stock with de cat, open pipes, open with de cat, etc.

Mine was mapped by the factory for open shorties and de cat.

I’m sure they have numbers and version numbers etc, but I don’t know what they are I’m afraid.

Thanks. I'll reach out to Ollie. The AF1 tech was not familiar with the Theil pipes.

Well, I’d say he doesn’t need to be. If he’s familiar with the map open shorties with de cat, that’s what you need!

Ollie prefers to set bikes up with a Power Commander...

I've just purchased a Dynojet PV-3 from Fuel Moto in the states for my other new toy, this not only gives me access to an encyclopedia of ecu maps created for every conceivable pipe/cat/muffler combination (to-date) but I can capture run-time logs and create new or re-tune maps on my Pc... (not that I would know what I was doing) and flash my ecu on the bike within seconds. This is on a bike that has only been around a few weeks!

American Indian.

Our cars are the same way. It’s an easy process.
Wish Norton was the same way. Maybe the Atlas bikes will be?

OK, I resurrected this extinct thread.
I was just wondering..
Now that Norton is history what are my chances of getting a 2-into-1 system?
Theil has been silent.
Maybe Paul Dunstall makes one?
Oh, different Norton, different century.

Did you contact Thiel and ask them ?
I may be in the market too
