This event is still on (for now)

But, they have basically turned it into a 2 day track day. the public are not allowed, there will be no village, which was a gathering of nutters (nice nutters) with outlandish machines on display, no band, no anything. They have cancelled the endurance race and the IHRO races that ran at the event too.

I have emailed them asking for my money back as it is no longer the event I signed up for, and there is no offer of a partial refund for the lack of entertainment that makes the bikers classic what it is.

I today received an email offering a voucher valid for the event next year by way of a refund. All very well and good if I intended doing it next year but DG Sports have already advertised that the Bikers Classic was going to be run every two years from this year on, and now my wife is wanting to go to Machu Picchu next year.

Do any of our Belgium members know if I can stick to my guns and ask for a refund and be backed up by Belgium law? as it stands, we are not allowed to travel so we couldn't get there anyway.

As of next year a not inexpensive " Carney " is required.

I have just Googled that and can find nothing about it relating to racing bikes.

Do you have any info, it will be a bit of a bummer if it applies to such short term imports.

You are entitled to stick to your guns, as the travel restrictions may/ may not remain in place. You are entitled to a full refund, no matter what they tell you, look up Martin Lewis website.

I have sent an email stating I cannot attend next year and again asked for a refund. I hope mr Lewis is right.

Hi Ralph, I (fortunately as it turns out) did't get around to entering Spa this year or various reasons. The other blokes I usually travel with have all paid though, but they are rather uncertain as to whether or not they will travel down for the event, they will decide a it closer to the date.
I suspect though that the organisers will struggle to refund everyone's tickets though They have never seemed to be awash in funding, so I really hope that they can pull through.
Perhaps they could give you a credit towards the next+1 event though? If they do go ahead with a "mini Spa" this year, they were planning on waiting until 2022 before doing the next one.

Hi Steve, hope you and yours are well.

I think the organisers are being very irresponsible going ahead with the event. I am guessing that if DG Sports cancel then they will loose the money paid to the circuit, they are probably waiting for the circuit to cancel. then the insurance will kick in.

I hope your friends get sorted.

Nigel, like Steve says, the Carnet is a sort of import permission, and as far as I can find out, it could run into multiple hundreds of pounds, I cannot find anything about race bikes but if it is so, then it would make events like Spa and the races at Chimay and Gedinne too expensive. It could kill an industry.

Well I look at it differently Ralph, at least they’re trying to do what they can, within the limits of what’s allowed, and I hope our U.K. event organisers of things like F1000B and Beezumph, etc, do the same.

I’d be gutted if F1000B was cancelled just cos the shit band and beer tent weren’t allowed !

The Festival has been cancelled.
The Bikers Classic is a lot more than the festival and it is just too far and too expensive for a track day. Also there are people from all over Europe descending on Spa, the infection possibilities are massive.

It is all a pita.

Well, like I said Ralph, I’d happily forego the beer tent and shit band and enjoy the track time.... rather than have the whole bloody event cancelled.

Oh well, I guess we can enjoy a nice relaxing weekend at home instead for a change...
