That’s all Folks 2

Regardless of the quality of repair or thoroughness of rectifying the issues, I have completely lost confidence in the bike - cutting out completely at 70mph in the outside lane of the A14 whilst overtaking a lorry will do that!

Blimey, there's definately a negative vibe going on at the moment, staff changes at HQ like Clem, Rob, Olivia and Ash but every company has its changes. But I guess most new 961 owners have had issues but to be fair they have been sorted. But that's a long time to be without it Eljahara. They won't like reading these forums but they need to and they need to get a grip on quality and learn and keep on top of suppliers. I really want to keep my 961 but as said previoulsy, it must be reliable

I had that issue initially when pulling the clutch in to change gear, I had to keep blipping the throttle and at roundabouts/traffic lights etc. But it was resolved after the remap, decat and short pipes. But I think you have already had that done so dissapointing.

Richard,
When I say “cut out” I mean completely - no ignition, the lcd panel went blank, Speedo and rev counter both dropped to zero - it was like the key was not in and all at 70mph. I quickly pulled the clutch in and freewheeled to a stop in the inside lane with the lorry I had just overtaken letting me know how close he was to taking me out!
Bloody scary (and yes Adrenalin is brown)

Jeez, that must have been incredibly scary. My friends uncle had that happen to him in a Jaguar. He pulled into the hard shoulder, called a recovery service to tow him to a garage. When the driver showed up he said it was a very common known problem on that model. It got fixed then happened again - he got rid of the Jag. Very scary in a car but immeasurably worse on a bike. No wonder you’ve lost confidence.

I’m guessing that if everything cut out as you describe, then so did the lights?

If that’s the case, imagine it happening at night... on an unlit road... strewth...!

And, they’ve had it since 23rd July, really? Well that’s also very concerning. I hope I’m wrong, but that makes me think they don’t know / can’t find out what it is, which would worry me even more...

Hmmm, on each of my last 2 rides (200 - 300 miles each) I have about a 1 second random loss of power. I didn’t look at the clocks but it was like the kill switch had been flicked off and then on, then all ok for the rest of the ride. Not quite in eljahara’s league but does put a little doubt out there.

Apparently this cutting out issue is a glitch in the upcoming Euro5 software...

It is intended so the Eurocrats can remotely send a 1-2 second disable signal when their new system detects any citizens having more than the EU allowed amount of fun.

Anyone detected of experiencing any sense of freedom gets the full system shutdown signal.

Euro6 will be even better. It incorporates key design aspects from George Orwell ...

Our government must be EU 6+ approved, they are about to reduce the speed limits on many of our roads in the name of safety. The roads with bends of course. :(

That's a heck of a lot more scary than my rear wheel bearing blow out at 50 MPH! In my case it wasn't a problem one could pin on the Norton factory, however. It was the service department at MCC that had incorrectly assembled the CF wheel before I took delivery. o_O

That would certainly shake my confidence in the bike.
I would believe the factory must be thinking that they dodged a bullet here.
They have a second chance to find the cause and resolve it before an owner is seriously injured, or worse.

Mine shut down on the road but it was just a relay backing out. Seems everytime an employee steps up to the plate and really becomes helpful...said person either leaves or gets sacked.
I think this thread may be driving the final nails in the coffin. Making me a bit sad.
Now let's see how quickly they sell and for how much.

Anybody see this New Harley ? Kinda looks like a DUC monster/KTM and others ? Paint reminds of the XR1200 . I read it is under 1000cc.

I am out.

Just waiting for it to be returned from the factory before sale or trade in.

As Steve said...
For me, things get worrisome only if your safety when riding becomes a factor.

What did Norton say was wrong with your bike ?

It is like waiting for grass to grow ! If the New models didn't take so long Norton might have a go at this. Especially if the bikes are good ! I wonder if Max still works there , does anybody know ?
