I want to test a Smiths tach. Do I run the drill In forward or reverse? The bike currently has a Smiths Speedo and a Veglia Tach installed. In the "box O parts" I have a Veglia Speedo and a Smiths Tach. The tach looks to be in good condition. Unfortunatley the Veglia speedo has some damage to the chrome bezel, I like the fact it has a trip odo and will get it repaired some day. But for I'll put the Smiths on if it works.

The cable will need to rotate in the same direction that you expect the needle to move unless it is a chronometric with a reverse reading needle. Viewed from the rear of the tach the shaft would need to move CCW. Jim

Chronometrics need to be spun in reverse too.

The speedo on my (one Owner)' 67 TR6C indicates I'm going about 30 when I'm actually going 55. I figure I'm cheatin' the Odo...........
