I am trying to remove a caliper from a T140. Oddly enough it seems to be mounted on a pair of studs requiring a 9/16 wrench to remove the nuts. The nuts are off but the caliper does not seem to have enough room to slide off the studs...if I could get it to budge at all. I have removed the pads for more room. Please tell me I do not have to remove the wheel.

I can't, as you do have to remove the wheel, which isn't difficult.

Edit: The torque figure of 25 lbs. ft for the "wheel spindle cap bolts" (they are nuts) quoted in various manuals is an error and should be 15 lbs. ft.

I dont' like that design. On my T140s, I "JB Weld" the nuts to those studs. Then just use them as "bolts with an extension" --- to mount the caliper cover on. Much easier to remove IMO, and don't have to remove the front wheel.
