Hi all.....can any of you out there tell me if a swinging arm from a mk3 fit into an early 1970 frame.....many thanks

i cannot see why this couldnt be done i fitted a mk3 cradle and swinging arm in a mk5 750 earlier i fitted a 850mk2 in a earlier cradle but cannot remember what mods i did to make it fit
keep modifiing

sorry forgot to mention that you obvioysly have to weld two 'bushes'on the earlier cradle to fit the 2 cotterpins wich locate the spindle in the cradle with the mk3. the earlier single bolt was bad news anyway becouse it allowed the spidle to move and weare the cradle oval

Or use the earlier, long bushes, the earlier end plugs with bolt and the earlier long spindle with the single 1/4-28 fixing bolt. No welding.

yes but with one bolt the spindle is allowed to move with the swinging arm
If you grab the swinging arm at the rear and pull it sideways (both left and right )the spidle can spin around the single bolt but not so if there are two of them

The Heinz Kegler modification can be used to cure earlier Commandos of that annoying tendency. Easy to install and works great.

Thanks Brian It looks a bit clumsy but is perhaps easier than dismanteling and welding

It's a pretty easy install, lynx. I don't have skills or equipment to weld (christ, I'm scarcely capable with a wrench!), maybe would have a different view if I did.
