Suspect a Leaky Oil Screen ?

You just have to check the alignment of the o-ring in the strainer housing.
If the alignment is off, oil gets past the o-ring and heads straight to the threads of the cap, then down the outside of the housing......
You know the rest.

When the engine is running oil is passing through the housing on its way to the oil pump, when the engine is off, one way valve in the pump allows the oil to sit in the oil line from the oil tank to the pump. Plenty of time for the oil to find a way around a mis-aligned o-ring.

Is this leaking part a filter/screen only?

The reason that filter body leaks is due to an o-ring that is not properly sized for the canister body.

Here is the filter canister body with the cap and strainer removed. The strainer has a land around its circumference that sits on the thin ledge that you see around the inside of the strainer body.

Here are the cap, o-ring, and strainer. Now picture the strainer slipping into the strainer body. The o-ring must be fitted on top of the strainer in such a way that when the cap is cinched down, the o-ring compresses around the outer edge of the strainer lip and seals the oil channel from the threads of the cap. Seem like a simple thing to assemble successfully but it is tricky. I have done it quite a few times but have had leaks more times than I want to admit to. A simple solution is a new o-ring that is the same outer diameter, but twice the thickness, were the o-ring is a tighter fit.
