While perusing an on-line parts place for modern Triumph Bonneville parts, was gob-smacked at the going rate for a single, empty shell fake carb body that houses the real fuel injector

If I'm reading this correctly, seems to me theses are the most precious part of these bikes:

"1 Throttle Body, 360 Twin, Dia36.5 $2,190.24 1"

https://www.triumphestore.com/a/Triu...64884-0-2.html

That's $4,380.48 for the pair! Not including the actual fuel injectors or rubber connections etc...just the empty bodies!!!

Makes the Amal Premiers look awfully cheap....

Not quite...

"1 Throttle Body, 360 Twin, Dia36.5 $2,190.24 1" Is for a pair.

And they’re not just ‘empty shell fake carb bodies’ they are throttle body assemblies.

Still very expensive however!

I’d think a breakers might be a better choice.

Or use this as an excuse for a sexy set of FCR flat slides !

$4300 would see my wife and I visiting Costa Rica for a month this winter or Cuba for 2 .... put real carbs on it !

The injector system works so well on the Triumphs haven't touched mine on my 2 Thruxton's and your always working on Amal's, why would you need to replace the throttle assemblies?

Don't need to replace them....but was so floored when I saw that price point. Price turns out to be for the whole assembly, but still, way, way more than any sane person should pay. I guess it's really just for insurance claims.

It's be my choice.

But this is just one example of Triumph pricing strangeness.

Price out a new Bonneville (865) cylinder head, makes a new Fullauto head look inexpensive.
Or new set of engine cases - say, if the starter idle gear boss breaks/snaps off). Ouch!
People are known to bid on ebay to get a complete Bonne engine, just to get replacement cases.

Triumph's parts pricing has been a subject of much debate on the RAT forum for years.

More like Triumphs way of getting you to buy a new bike rather than fixing the old one. Price the parts that will break/wear out once the warranty is done so high that it doesn't seem worth putting the $$ into an older bike when you can have a brand new one for 3 or 4 years of monthly payments.

Have a no payment policy on bikes ever , if not enough cash on hand I wait ... it just a play thing .... in fact since I stopped working everything is paid in cash except what on CC the boss pays that in total monthly ... fixed income would be a impossible challenge any other way .... so stuck with the Commando and 2 Italians , poor me ,eh .....

I've never bought a vehicle on payment plans. Too much depreciation to stomach. Home is another matter.

I bought my 2017 T100 Bonneville cash. They were very disappointed that they couldn't make a few more dollars off me by financing it. Used to be cash was king but no more I suppose.

House we own now , was paid for when we sold family home I built while working ,in a up and coming suburban area , paid as I built stayed 10 yrs and got out of the fish bowl , bought this one for half what I got for one I built .... dumped some into this one since, still have some of that win , time is everything , never had a mortgage and prolly couldn’t get one now ....
