Running a stock Commando Mk 3 stock points. Everything in good order. Had the carbs sleeved. Still have a problem with drifting idle hot. Blip the throttle and it comes down but slowly rises. Checking tha points / auto advance and with points installed the auto advance does not snap fully retarded but sticks. The auto advanc appears to be in perfect condition. The friction of the points is what causes the drag that prevents the auto advance from snapping all the way retarded. I suspect the advance springs are possibly weak. Does anyone have any insight to the issue?

Examine the slots in the AAU. if you advance it by hand you will probably see that at the end of the pins' travel there is a groove worn that it hangs up in. I have a can of about 6 of these and they all have the groove.

Do yourself a favor and spring for a RITA or Tri-spark if using the electric starter. If the starter has been removed, then consider the Boyer or Pazon. Boyer also supposedly now offers a new version (Mark IV) of their ignition that works with the high battery drain of the starter.
