Nice new early Norton; what is Steve doing? Carb adjustment?

Nice new early Norton; what is Steve doing? Irritating Amal adjustment?

Fixed.

Looks like a '70 Roadster. Points on the cam shaft, 'halo' around the headlight.

Was the halo around the bucket, on other Commandos besides the "S" with the high pipes?

MF

My, bought from new, 1970 Roadster (low pipes) had the halo around the headlight,
Cheers,
Dave

Yes, that’s a ’70 Roadster. Had one of those and also a ’69 S-Model at the same time. The bikes were identical other than the exhaust and color. Both were fast, and had that flat seat, head light ring, etc. The Roadster had “Roadster” decal on the side covers, and the S had “750 S” decals. Bought some extra decals way back then, still have them somewhere. Have an original S-Model sales brochure and maybe one listing the Roadster. No rear view mirror – I had to buy that separate.

Must be one of the last 1970 roadsters because it already has the 1971 type crankcases (with the blanking plate where the starter was supposed to be).

Photo of my other hero back then (and still) Clint Eastwood on S-Model Commando.

The bike in the Steve McQueen pic is identical to my mine, a late 1970 model, before I set about changing things.
Looks like Clint Eastwood would have benefited from having the footpegs lowered like those in the thread on "Riding Position".

Starter? You must be joking. That's where the ignition distributor went on the early Commando.

Looks a lot like mine (Clint's that is) in 72.

The photo was taken in 1969, the movie Kelly’s Heroes was released in early 1970.

Lower the footpegs? You must be kidding. See photo of my 750 S footpegs ground down from aggressive riding.

No way I'd lower the pegs, I've scraped them as they are too.

Use an Interstate tank and seat : you'll be seated higher , no need to lower footpegs.
