i am restoring a '71 roadster and the thread on the stearing stem between the yolks is knackered. was woundering if anyone could tell me the right size die to use to re cut it. its easy enough to measure but i want to be shure to get the right pitch

According to one parts supplier, the stem nut is 7/8" x 14 tpi, so the stem thread is 7/8" UNF.

I think the thread pitch changed at some point. I bought a new nut for my 750 from OldBritts and it didn't fit - wrong pitch. Yet according to the parts listings they're all the same from 71 on.

I ended up reusing the old nut.
