Started the 71 rebuild a day ago .
will post pics as I proceed .
soaked all the bolt and nuts with weasel piss . twice
hope it helps when removing hardware .
removed control cables , light switches , front end , back wheel , front wheel .
will get the wheels apart , new SS spokes , new stock chrome rims , new tubes , liners and tires.
goingto try getting the wheel hubs vapor blasted , see how it turns out .
if too costly , then I will buy the equipment myself to complete the rest .
don’t know how often I post here but try and keep updated , maybe weekly if I get something done.

Good for you.Good luck with it. It'll be interesting to follow along.

Your hubs should come up nicely. These were mine after I had vapour blasted about 3.5 ago, post 10 years layup in my shed. They werent quite as rough as yours to start though. They were polished after and looked great.

Looking at the photo's with the 5.75 headlight is it a SS or Hi-Rider?

Not sure what model it was built as . It had this look when I got it .
I think the last owner had it sitting in garage for last 30 years.
it had the extensions on the forks , no seat , stupid exhaust system
I only have the serial number and it appears there are no factory records for this serial number ?

Yup. South River. About 3 hrs. north of Oshawa. How did you luck out finding the 71?
See your from Ontario ?
what city ?
I got this out of BLACKSTOCK ONTARIO .
just north of Oshawa .
Yup. South River is 3 hrs. north of Oshawa. I've never heard of Blackstock. We had a chit chat a while back if you recall. I recall your relations are from Sturgeon Falls(that is where caviar comes from) and North Bay , right?
I am rebuilding a 72 these days, and I really like the way these machines are put together. Good luck with your project. Dave.

Looking for a good decent , no welding repair , outer chain case .
the one on my project has been poorly repaired .
