Here is the finalized STARTER SOLENOID REBUILD TOOL that will be for sale very soon. A little history on how this tool came about. My Dad did a lot of miles in a short period of time. Unfort. as some of you know, the 961 takes at least two starts to get an idle (most times). That being said, you really wear out the contacts in a hurry - My dads bike wouldn't even turn over because of this, thankfully his last start got him home. Wearing out a contact is very normal on all electric starters. To get the Starter off the 961 is not a walk in the park. So my dad was determined to figure out a way to do it on the bike - and he did!

If you have read the manual I made about this tool I had a RED prototype I made from his sketches. One minor revision and here is the final tool. A tool that comes with three sets of contacts and can be done without removing the starter from the bike. If you take your bike on long trips like my dad does, then be sure to bring this tool with you. It correctly sets the contacts and allows you to tighten the contact nuts so you get it right the first time. And a real cool side note is >>> This will fit a lot of Harley and Kubota Tractors. Just happen to have them on the property so we know. Not sure what other bikes or tractors yet but the Starter on the Norton uses a very common Solenoid so this Tool may be good for a few of your bikes. Any discoveries please share with me. And slowly I'll compile a list.

This makes a great gift for HARLEY DAVIDSON Owners and KUBOTA TRACTOR owners too. Just saying.. My dad has rebuilt his and his neighbors Tractor starters..

Pretty much all Denso style starter solenoids. Even the third world country Denso knocks offs. If it looks like the Denso Starter then there is a good chance it will fit and use the same contacts. Having this is your tool box will def. come in use one day, depending on how many times a year you start your bike.

This is a very useful tool and will save you a lot of money one day. No need to replace your starter if it's only the solenoid contacts.

I am interested, Richard. In combination with a weak battery the solenoid gets a work out all too often. How soon will the new kit be available?
