Hi to All:
I was looking for Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencers in stainless steel, but I have been suggested on looking for the classical chrome.
Any Idea? Suggestions? :D
Thank you!

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

If I were buying today, I'd go for stainless steel EPCOs. Have their peashooters on an airhead BMW (running Wassells on the Commando - purchased before I discovered EPCOs (nothing wrong with the Wassells, however)). FWIW/YMMV.

voices told me the EPCO are very very noisy compared to others: is it true?
I was looking around and didn't find a seller online, may you indicate me where to buy?
thanks in advance!

Lorenzo,

A little concerned about you hearing voices but you can find EPCO exhausts available. The following is a link to a guy on ebay who regularly offers them:

thank you!
But are they sooooo noisy than the usual original chrome one?

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

I am using a pair of Epco stainless peeshooters now & if anything I would just say they sound differant. A little smoother but not louder to me. I don't want to bring this up again in detail but if you do go with Epco's check for availability first and be prepaired to wait. You might check out 7th Phase or Viking first. Epco welds the cones and lugs so a little wavyness there is expected but not bad, 7th Phase extrudes them in one piece for a more presise form. Just google those names.

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

Before you send any money to EPCO could I suggest you do a search on this site for a thread I started last year. Bottom line was I was told a lot of untruths about shipping and six months later neither of the sets of pipes and mufflers I was assured had been shipped have arrived. I believe there are some dealers who stock them, so perhaps they'd be better to deal with.

Hey Bsaboss, sorry to hear your still holding your breath in reguards to the Epco thing. I'm going to PM you my E-mail address cuz I may be able to offer a partial bit of help. Glenn.

thank you Steve: did you buy them here? is it trustable or there's a chance I will be waiting for years as Bsaboss?
as per the noise, do you think the internal baffles have been made properly? (I'm concerned not to have much louder pipes than the stock ones)
Moreover, any suggestion where to look also for their stainless steel exhaust pipes?
thanks for helping!

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

Lorenzo,

I have not bought from the guy, but there are posts on this board by others that have. They were very positive on his product and service. He's been selling these for a long time now.

I am currently running conventional chromed steel peashooters so have limited experience with stainless. However, I have heard them and personally like them. They sound a little 'brighter' to me but not objectionable. With respect to pipes, google Viking exhaust as gtsun suggested above. Be prepared though as they are a pricey. High quality but pricey.

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

I've seen the negative posts and I don't know what to say about them, other than that my experience was quite different.

The EPCOs I have on my airhead are a bit louder than the stock exhaust (but then, so is a hummingbird belch) but not "loud" by any stretch of the imagination. I actually wouldn't mind a TAD more sound out of them.

Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

Hi,
I am wondering if the EPCO Stainless Steel have a big bore than the stock and furthermore if the internal baffles have been made properly..
Anyone who owns them can have an idea on this?

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

I found few links on youtube where you may hear the sound. They are from a new Thruxton and an old guzzi eldorado. Then, all from different bikes, but perhaps it may be useful to understand if they are too noisy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dscEGroWiRI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeSwZlfe-I0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1wfyypuC2w

actually, from my first impression, they seemed to me sounding kind of raspy, rather than smooth, and quite loud..
perhaps they don't have a dbkiller or have inconsistent internal baffles? what are your impressions?

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

They are not loud to me. In fact I rode to work this morning & that means starting & warming up the bike fairly close to several neighbors at 5:00am and I would be surprized if they were bothered. I will ask Hudson to post a few pictures of the 2nd set I have that have never been used so you will see the internal baffling. They are made a bit differant from the stock but seem of good quality. BrianK I don't know how long ago you got yours from Tom but I think his Bizz situation has changed in the last year or so & now his son runs the manufacturing down in South America some where. Maybe it's just taking some time to work out the bugs but he is not motivated to get stuff out in any kind of a timely manner at all. In fact it's been several months & many phone calls to remind him to send us the return slip so I can send back the first set he sent me and he still hasn't done it. All it would take is a trip to the post office and he would have them back but instead they just sit at my friends shop & sooner or later I will just sell or give them to someone. After all the BS I am certainly not putting out my own cash to pay for his shipping because he's to lazy(?) or whatever to make a trip to the post office. Damn, I told myself not to post more about this & here I have, again!

gtsun, Im glad you did, Im sure others Like Lorenzo are to.

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

Well, the head pipes are the same size. As to internal bore in the muffler, I don't know. They are straight-through glass packs. Again, I am talking about the pair on my airhead.

PS, the cones on mine are not welded on. The whole muffler is as smooth as a baby's bottom. I did not get down on the ground to check the mounts, but there's nothing you can see without doing so, anyway. Fit and finish are top-notch. As I said, when the Wassells go (although I hope that's not soon), the Commando gets EPCOs.

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

BrianK, you won't see the welds because they are polished out to be perfectly smooth but trust me, the cone was welded on. Mine came with a "Quality Control" check list stating things like, " Waveyness of welds at cone" with boxes to check off next to it. The box that said "No waveyness" was checked but they were quite wavey by almost 3/4 to an inch variance around the circle. Again they are hand made & you will not notice this mounted. I think they are extreamly well made and beautiful, sound great and fit well. I just wouldn't ever put up with the flakey stories of why they have not arrived after being told they were shipped, over and over again.

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

Well others here may be reluctant to speak up, and I did already in the previous thread regarding Tom Epperson at Epco, but I have no qualms reiterating that I sent him property that he never returned (one Dunstall Decibel Silencer), and I'm quite sure I would have had much greater difficulty getting my money back ($400.00), too, had I not known his wife's place of employment and been able to use that information to threaten her business reputation in order to force him (them?) to return my money.

In my business dealings with Tom Epperson at Epco, which was about 25 years ago, he behaved like an absolute swine. I'll raise a glass to the news should he end up fertilizing the flowers sooner than I.

I hope you buy elsewhere.

Re: Stainless Steel on Exhaust pipes and Peashooter silencer

Ah! You're probably right GTSUN. But they are perfectly smooth!

I'm not here to defend Tom or EPCO. My own experience was fine. But then, I swear by Corbin seats and I know of lots of folks who swear at them instead....luck o' the Irish, I guess.
