Some guy on ebay is selling 28 inch clear coated stainless steel braided brake lines for 25 bucks including shipping. This particular line is specified for a Harley, but I'm wondering if brake line fittings aren't pretty much universal. If so, this beats the hell out of Old Britts stainless braided lines by about a third of the price.

That's similar to what I have used. You just need the -3 flared fittings to go with it. I have built up my own lines with ebay fittings. -3 ss hose and ss fittings. all one piece and reasonably priced. the ends are anywhere from $5 to $20 and the hose is only $3 a foot. I don't have a better picture but here is the front line I made for my alloy bike, about $40 total.

I have the male to female fitting that mounts on the fender studs... so then if I got another male to male fitting for the other end it would work?

Brake line fittings are not universal. I'm all for saving money when I can, I like to draw from the industrial world as well, but many times, it ends up being just as expensive with a whole lot of hassle/time spent. OldBritts delivers good products at a fair price. (NON gougers) Just my .02 Let us know where you end up..... what set-up, etc.
