Norton Dave !!!!

You started a test of these sprag`s.
Have not seen any results yet.
The results of these laboratory tests must be more important than price

I believe they are the same make and type as the standard replacement sprag units [Stieber DC 4127 (3C)] therefore they shouldn't actually require any exhaustive testing.

Hi Vidar ,
I allways like to test things before offering for sale they are the Stieber DC4127 units what is special is they work and are reasonably priced , I was testing the opperation hardness and how after emery clothing the inner drive sproket and drive gear would they still drive and they did time will tell it has been about a year now so after these tests Iam confident to sell , hope this clears up any issues Norto Dave .

Hi

I have got my frame back from the powdercoating shop and the barrel and head back from the engine shop
It all looks great and I will be posting photos of the bits when I get them all laid out

Norton Dave sent me one of his sprag bearings which arrived today
Anybody wanting to save a few bucks on one of these then i can recommend him at his word
A genuine 18 tooth Stieber for $50.00! Unreal, thanks Dave

Bye for now

Hi,I have also just received today my sprag clutch from Norton Dave. Thanks Dave.
Might be a little while before I get to try it out,but I have to fit the starter back on as I have had knee surgery on both knees, so no more kick starting!
Not good news from the surgeon on my Right knee.

Hi Norton dave can I purchase one of your sprags please

This might be of interest.
I'm now into year 5, still works like it should.
So far I have not heard of any failures of these cheapie sprags.
There are lots of failures of the proper expensive ones.
Glen

If the gears are correctly spaced in your gearbox, you should not need a sprag clutch. The sprag only works if you don't match the revs on down-changes. The standard Commando gearbox leaves a lot to be desired. For road work, it might be enough. But for racing, it is useless. As you come down through the gears, it takes a big heap of revs to get a smooth down-chane. It means you are never smooth enough to be safe. A sprag clutch might fix it, but it would be a bodge job. When the internal gear ratios are right, you will always be faster.

This "sprag clutch" is part of the electric starter mechanism.

Is he suffering from brain fade again?
What a starter motor sprag clutch has to do with any of the above comments . . . . . . .

Slipper clutch? Maybe eye sight?
