Hello all. My speedometer took a crap and now I need a replacement. Wanted to see if anyone had a spare they might want to let loose of, or had some suggestions on getting one.
I've contacted a few dealers here in the states with everyone really just wishing me luck with all that is happening with Norton. I reached out to VDO and they said they couldn't provide me with a replacement, when asked about getting is repaired they recommended a dealer in Fort Lauderdale that said they would try and I sent the speedo to them. They have tried to get information about the speedo from VDO, and they will not release anything as they have an exclusive contract with Norton, they don't seem to agree on the current status of Norton so are unwilling to help their repair facility. The repair company has connected the speedo up to their VDO test machine and he says he is able to read everything he needs to about this speedo, and tested it and was able to duplicate the failure I am experiencing. The repair company feels they can try taking it apart and may be able to fix it using matching parts from other VDO gauges, but with the rarity of the speedo being this is the first he has ever been contacted about one, he is slightly hesitant to just go tearing into it. I will admit it doesn't work now what have I got to lose but I would like to keep as much of the original parts on the bike as possible.
Before I give up and just put a different speedo and tach in, which the repair company feels they can supply, I thought I would try and see here for any help/ideas.
Thanks
