Looking for a little help. ' 74 Norton Commando 850 - the instrument lights for my Speedometer and Tach come on only when the key is in the Auxiliary position ( key turned towards the motor).
Shouldn't they come on with headlight? I checked the terminals on the key switch and as per the wiring diagram it's correct. I put my tester on the instrument terminal on the back of the switch and the only time I get power is when in the Aux position. Should I move it to the Headlight terminal? Thoughts??
Thanks,
Mike

Yes, when the key is turned to the Ignition and Lights position.

Terminal 3 (Pilot, Tail and instruments brown/green)? T4 is headlamp only (blue/yellow). An aftermarket switch can be different.

Yes the wires are Brown/Green. So just move them up onto the terminal with the Blue/Yellow?
What is the Auxiliary key position for then?

Yes, (on T3?)

What is the Aux position for then?

For the original switch that position would be parking lights, however, because that particular type of aftermarket switch has different internal connections the 'AUX' position cannot be used for parking lights with the standard wiring harness as it doesn't have the 1-2-3-4 internal connections at the Ign. & Lights key position of the original switch.
