Might open gap a bit too.

i have them set at .026 now, they came out of the box at .030, maybe i'll set them at 28. i still have a mild stumble/hesitation if i roll the throttle on somewhat quick from an idle. if/when i get rid of that, i will be content.

Do you know if the stumble is worse with the engine cold or does it get worse when the engine warms up? Jim

its definitely more noticeable at start up and will get better during riding as it warms up, but never seems to go away completely.

That would indicate a lean spot off idle. Likely will need a richer slide or pilot jet. If it seems to be right off idle then do the pilot jet. If it is more like 1/8 to 1/4 throttle then go for the slide. Jim

I know a bit about off idle throttle snap bumbles, ugh, as stated its sucking more air than fuel just then so slides cutout less and float level all help as well as tweaking timing degree and rate of rise, but if its a 750 might try a hillbilly accelerator pump > slice, dice, notch the spay tube towards the 850 cut out or knock the tube further down its seat for shorter-faster-easier path for gas to lift into the venturi stream.

Amal has race needle profiles with steeper tapper for more response accelerator like fuel hits on less throttle twist. Nothing extra on top end as that's just jet size but so annoying jerking forward with extra fuel delivered my buddy Wes gave Ms Peel his about 100 miles after leaving Ohio rally he got them at - d/t constantly having to shut back down to stay legal and reduce his stops on under 2 gallon HyRyder tank with over a pint of Caswell's thickness inside.

I had a 750 P!! champion drag bike that idled a thumper 600 rpm with dual Amals that I had to be rather careful w/o 4" flat drag slick on to ease on throttle, as much of a snap after 900 rpm just made smoke w/o going anywhere. So its within the realm of Norton items to get that addictive grin of right now Torque rise grunt. At full dead 600 idle I could snap race throttle fast enough to bog it ok but with just a tiny bit more rpm it became like an electric on switch BANGGGGG redline 9000 rpm > any time not going over 60 in 4th. I liked the low idle as made more tame to truck around parking lots and ugh inside College hall ways and garden foot paths ...

Ah the sound of open drag pipes among hallowed brick walled alleys in the morning - 2am.

I'd had two Norton ingrain a 1st shock reflex before throttle twist - white knuckled bar grip like a water skier while planting butt deep in seat as head lowered or I got whiplashed as bike squirted right out from under. At some power to weight ratio to tire size, throttle position sets tire speed rpm right now with one-to-one throttle response - you have to wait a bit for bike to catch up to the throttle setting. Not fastest way to get ahead as there is hesitation in the G's increasing, [not lack of Gs increasing just not max G's] but during that loose lull one can steer rear so when it does hook up again ------->>>>>>
