I have a small amount of rust in the bottom of the commando oil tank I have cleaned the tank with varsol and then coatedit in penetrating oil It appears to be in one corner. Any ideas on how to remove it?
Thx Drummer99

I've seen videos on a molasses solution too. If it's just light rust, I'd probably just use some phosphoric acid (naval jelly), at least it leaves a protective coating. Muratic acid works too (concrete cleaner, dilute Hydrochloric acid) but it will eat more than the rust.

Thx guys I used metal Rescue and it worked great I have read a lot about the bottom mounting problems any other good ideas would be appreciated

Instead of the bottom mount i have an old exhaust rubber mounting with one of the thread an metal ends cut off. The oil tanks bottom threaded boss rests (it has been brazed up long ago and stiffened) it an the threaded side fits the battery tray hole. Also make sure the top to mounting rubbers fit with no stress on them.
