You are right, but have you ever tried to get anything booked into them? They don't keep a Diary and the last time i called, they suggested I kept calling back to see how busy they were and then maybe take it in. I have bought spares from them but have used RGM more recently as they seem more helpful.
Anyway- an update.
Got the bike moved over to the clubs Norton guru in Rochford who has rewired the bike. The connections on the bike did not match the loom I bought, but this has been changed. The ignition was damaged so has been replaced. One of the plugs was working when it wanted to and was the wrong type(?) and the new carb-well I am told there was a flaw in the casting that was stopping the float from working smoothly and the choke, just for good measure, wasn't working.
So not a complete suprise I struggled with the thing.
RGM have been good on the 'phone and e-mail, and it was my error that the bike needes the electrics doing. MOT tomorrow and hopefully i'll ride it the 40 miles home!
Anyone see the Charlie Boorman thing on the telly? His co-traveller and producer had a 1975 mk3 in silver, shipped to Ireland in a van for the start of their trip ot Oz 'By any means' and the old girl wouldn't start! My family were laughing like drains as this has been my grief since i began Norton ownership. They jump started it using a lawnmower- the shame of it!
Don't know what next is going to go, but I be much more careful when i buy the next bike- which will be a single, don't know what yet but an ES2 or a BSA (Had an M21 and an Enfield 500 (that used to cut out when it wanted to). Would like the old 18H thing or maybe a CCM?
