Dad said he was cleaning up my shocks and noted that the springs were not the same, that one of them was an absolute bastard to remove.. Surely this can't be good, having springs with different progression rates.. Is there any place to get new springs (OldBritts shows them as not available -- part #062178?), or should I just say screw it and grab a new pair of shrouded NJB shocks from Clubman and call it good? I like the shrouded look better anyway, I guess. Maybe this is just the excuse I needed..

Not sure which of those I'd want (guessing 10 or 19), but for $85/$60, I think I'd rather just buy the NJB shocks. God only knows how old/crappy my stock shocks are anyway.

Stop trying to talk me out of the NJB's! I need an excuse dammit! ;D

Well hell. It's not just the springs that are different. Looks like I have two completely different shocks--bodies, springs, etc.

They are marked as follows:

640523115 AE38
640523115 ME51

Screw it, I'll set them to the side as spares and order the NJB set. Good lord, my bike is one mangled mess of mismatched crap. Someone beat the piss out of it. ;/

Did some retarded Honda shop slap yours together with parts from all sorts of other bikes, some correct bust most not...? Mine is "special"!!!

If it is truely "special", then you should list on ebay as such. Judging by what I have seen out there you should be able to comfortably retire with the proceeds. :D

Good call. Sadly, I'm devaluing my bike and it returning it to a reasonable configuration so that I can ride it. :D

Dude! Don't throw the springs out. What you have there is one of those circular racing track set ups. The stiff spring goes no the right side so the suspension don't compress as much when your turning left all the time! Either that or its to carry the weight of your super fat wallet. Or its. Because, being a norton owner, your right leg is more developed than your left from kickstarting all the time, and needs to carry the extra wieght!

All joking aside, get some hagons.

No, the PO of mine used the Braille method to both ride and fix/change the wiring.

Nortons are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.

NJB's! With shrouds! YESSSSS

I'm a cheap bastard. $158 for NJB's, but I think the shrouds (ala the shocks on the early Commandos) are awesome.

Get The Ikons,,,,, or the hagons,,,,,, or the Progressive brand. Just about any of them you can put a shroud on . I have a pair of Progressive's on my MK III and recently new Ikon's on my 2009 Bonneville SE. Lots of choice's .....
