Hi Guys:
Thought this might have been discussed in the past. Our local shell dealer here in southern ontario Canada says there is no ethenol in any of there blends. He said the government has not mandated it so shell is not using it.I am not sure if that is the case in the USA.

Howdy Bruce,
Nice to see that Canada, at least where you live, is not adding alcohol. The practive, here in the states, is designed to extend the fuel supply, nothing more; A George Bush move set up to throw us off his trail to enhance the profits of OPEC while trying to get speculators to search for more oil in the US and just off-shore, but poor George didn't have the attention of the US's extremely libral congress---no drilling
The alcohol content of our fuel is just like a tax; once levied, never removed. Enjoy your fuel while it lasts, be prepared to coat your fiberglass tanks!

Best wishes,

RS

FWIW, ethanol and any other additives are added at the distribution point - where the trucks pick up the fuel for delivery to gas stations, marinas, whatever. Gasoline, as delivered by the refinery has no ethanol or other "special" additives that various brands may add.

How do I get petrol from a distribution point?

I'm not sure if I'll get the bleach out of my eyes from trying to get the image of the guy on the left out.

This would explain why a sampling of stations in Virginia came up with ethanol levels anywhere from 20-50%. I guess ethanol is cheaper than gas, (subsidized, your tax dollars at work for you! Thank You Archer Daniels Midland.)

Also, you use up more to get the same power level, in other words, less miles per gallon which makes the oil companies happy (more product sold), the governement happy (more taxes), the corn farmers happy and us poorer still.

What a scam :!:

In the Madison WI area there are still several stations selling unleaded premium without ethanol. I make it a practice to frequent these stations AND let them know why.

Ethanol is the standard practice, but real gas is pretty easy to come by with little or no effort. Think I have four stations in a five mile radius where I can get non-ox gas. Best place to check is the web page of the local hot rodders or vintage bike clubs...they usually post the locations with real gas. For grins I just checked a local list, 208 stations were listed in the state as selling non-ox gasoline.

Depends on which state you are in, or where in the world you are.
