SG7

I just read that Josh Brookes will be riding a Norton SG7 in this year's Isle of Mann. I googled Norton SG7 and only found references to the Isle of Mann race. Anyone know where there is info on that bike?

Danno not sure about that, the first of the production models are listed as being available , makes you wonder why they wouldnt promote that V4 in a race bike.
It all takes time.Well done Norton

I've never seen any comparison between the engines, but the Aprilia V4 is high on my list of desirable engines. A friend just bought an RSV4 and he's chomping at the bit to get on a twisty road with it.

if they are just getting their production line V4s going, they may need another year to do race r&d. Plus they may have a sizeable investment in Aprilia equipment and spares. Again, unknown architecture on the proprietary engine, but the Ape is a proven monster motor.

Enough about the junk. Josh Brookes is a great rider. How's about a Norton WSB effort in 2019 or '20? Can't do that with an Aprilia in the belly.

There’s a long way between having a new engine ‘ready’ for production and having it ready for top level racing at the TT.

Norton would be mad to use there own engine there at this stage.

I hope they do so ASAP... but not before it’s ready!

Wow, Josh Brookes is a good sign for sure, but I just read in MCN that Norton have signed John McGuinness, THE most successful living IOM racer.
That’s one heck of a team.
Not so much an amusing side show anymore, it’s starting to get serious...!

I may have been mistaken about the power unit for the race bike;

If I read this correctly, they are racing their own engine rather than the APE.
