This page: https://www.gregmarsh.com/MC/Norton/SRList.aspx lists all Commando Services Releases at least partially. The link in the left-hand column lets you see the full release formatted more or less like it was originally released. Every day, there are lots of visitors to the page but rarely does anyone click on the links in the left-had column. Also, the search and sort functions are seldom used. This makes me wonder if the instructions are bad or maybe there's enough info without drilling down.

As you can imagine, this was/is a lot of work. It is still a long way from finished but all releases are at least there even with screwy character strings here and there and some missing graphics. Some feedback would be nice. If you see no value in it, that would also be good to know.

Hi Greg,
From a quick scan, this looks like a nice piece of work.
Could it be linked from the Technical Section on this Forum?
I see a couple of spelling mistakes: typoes, convenion.

Greg plenty of value in your database so please do keep it and thanks for compiling it !

Feedback :

1/ From the point of " user friendly " the one thing that stands out negatively for me is the main header welcoming folks to the database and the accompanying explanations below, it seem to take over the page and distracts from the excellent data listed below.

2/ Your mission statement at the top of the page also stands out and again takes over the page so it too distracts, once you get past the distractions you then have to look quite hard to get to the actual joy of the page, that of your top quality data.

3/ The data below your intro and explanations is, on my laptop screen at least, way way down the page to the point where I have to scroll down to see the start of it, once there of course the reward is clear but many folks don't scroll and just make a quick glance so perhaps wouldn't get to see it ? Once down there perhaps the fonts could be larger ?

4/ The Left Hand column containing the links is way too narrow compared to the right hand side of the page and diminishes the importance of the links contained there. I'd widen the LHS and enlarge the font then narrow down the RHS and reduce font size, the data being more important than the explanations..

Please take the above as positive, helpful and constructive criticism in response to your question about access and drilling down.

I have to say your site is great and I'm delighted you have created it.

I've tightened the instructions and they are now only shown on the first visit to the page. To get them back, a new browser session is required. I've also made the left-hand columns links more prominent.
