Norton recommends semi-synthetic oil for the 961!

Why is this? It is my understanding that full synthetic oil is superior for engine wear, and mileage. All my other bikes and cars take full synthetic?

I have seen full synthetics not recommended for bikes with wet clutches as it will cause the clutch to slip!

Good synthetic oils, designed for motorcycle use, contain friction modifiers specifically to allow use with wet clutches. I'm not a chemist, so I have no idea how they work!

Each has his / her own oil preference. Mine is for Redline. I use their 20/60 in my Commando (old one) and Vincent. Lots of good info here:

Some Ducati and Aprillia owners told me its bullshit. That I should use a full synthetic. That Norton wants my bike to wear out quicker. How absurd! I don't know why either, although I do believe the clutch slip theory. That, and if there is a leak to be found, synthetic will find it. No thanks. Got enough of those, thanks.
