Anyone know anything about the seats from hondaclassic31 as far as quality and fit?

Some folks don't seem to care much for the Interstate seats. Haven't heard one way or the other with the Roadsters. :|

I seriously considered it, then decided on a Corbin instead. I'm interested in seeing how the opinions shake out from those who are buying..

My friend bought one of the Corbin lookalikes from Vietnam, it looked good in the photo, horrible in 'the flesh'.

I have written a report in my Café Commando build thread cafe-commando-build-thread-t8372-300.html but to ease searching, here are the pictures:

I am pleased with the quality. Next time I go to my buddy's place, I will take it along and see how it fits on a Commando with a roadster gas tank in the right place (my Fastback tank is about one inch urther back than a stock Fastback to give me room for the oil filler behind the steering neck.

I had a chance to go to my buddy's garage and try out my seat (before I modify the ears) on a stock (well, sort of) Commando Roadster. As can be seen from the pictures, the fit is quite good and I think it looks good too. The remark my buddy gave was that the Norton logo should have been placed lower so it could be visible from the back.

my seat arrived today. it seems decent. not sure that i'd spend the money on it that i did if i was holding it in my hands at the time of purchase. i'm used to buying things on the internet so its never a matter of being disappointed, its a matter of "how disappointed" i will be. overall pretty good and the seller was nice to deal with. u.s. customs felt the need to hold it for awhile for some reason.

I think it looks good on your bike! Why disappointed?

FWIW, I know exactly where you're coming from on always being disappointed with internet orders because it seems I almost always am, too.

thanks jordan. i guess i shouldn't say disappointed, overall i'm happy with the look and fit, but for the price i kind of expected better, ie. heavier seat pan metal and heavier seat material. its put together nicely and fits nice, but i don't think it will hold up as long as an original or a corbin.

yes, bwolfie i got mine from ebay and he also has a website and will custom make a seat anyway you want (i found this out after i had purchased mine). his website is www.hondaclassic31.com

Aha. Gotcha. I'll probably have over $300 in my custom-upholstered seat.. Considering I already have $145 invested in two seat pans and foam to use as a starting point, I think it's probably an almost-certainty that I'll end up having spent over $300. Time will tell if the fit/quality is any better than what you got for your money.

That's with shipping, still a lot cheaper than a Corbin. Corbin seats look and fit very well, but that are as hard as a rock.

PS I have rarely been disappointed by internet purchases, in fact many time I am pleasantly surprised because it is better than I expected.

How about some more pictures of that Hurst bumpered panel? Is that a Barndoor sitting there too??

ha, good eye. yes, actually there are two different barndoors in the photos. one is a 53 deluxe, the other which you can barely see is a '54 kombi. the panel is a '59 double door, walk thru.

what year is the deluxe in your avatar, early '64? looks nice!

i was born this way, i can't help it

I had noticed the Semaphore on that other bus but I wasn't sure what it was bus wise. Very nice stuff there. Also, good eye, my bus is a early '64 21 window. I am looking to get a single cab, I want something different then the deluxe. You don't happen to have a semaphore single laying around??
