End of April beginning of May 2015 my dad will be riding the 961 out to Oregon (Birth place of the 961) then up to Vancouver for a bike show, stopping off at a few dealers along the way and then returning. Approx. 3 weeks round trip.

Updates to follow (dates, stops)

Def. something that will gain the attention of anyone involved with Norton or own a Norton 961. This is not a sponsored trip by Norton UK or CANADA (at least not yet....)

If per chance you would like to be apart of this epic adventure by means of sponsorship (gear or cash) stickers on the bike or helmet for the trip so your logo is in every picture (or almost every picture), magazine coverage, a place to stay the night, please PM me.

Probably 27th 28th or 29th area. To early to tell today.

OH darn , I missed my chance to see Richard-7 's dad . That MCC in Villa Park , where I bought my Sport. Sorry , Had to work .Tony

Hello Richard-7 , Can you ask your dad a few questions and get back to us when you can ? What kind of tires does he run for a long trip as this ?
How does he handle the oil in the air box ? Does he need to add oil for these long trips ? To what level does he fill , low mark , middle or high mark ? And lastly What kind of oil does he use ? Thanks for your help. Tony

I know the tires are Dunlop Sport Max. with the harder strip down the center and super soft on the sides.
Oil level in the middle.
He leaves the drain un plugged
AMS OIL

Hello Richard-7 , Does he need to add oil for these long trips ? What weight 10w40 , 20w50 ? Does he have to carry oil with him ? Based upon my discharge rate into the air box , I would have to carry oil with me. When my oil was at the middle on the stick I would get it pushed into the air box. Maybe this will improve with more break in miles ? I hope so, only 590 miles on the clock so far , mpg is 45 to 47 (US Gallons) . I think I can get about 175 miles on a tank before a refill . That sound right to you ? Thanks for your input. Tony .

I got my Norton service manual in the mail. Says to fill oil midway btw the 2 lines. Mines about a third up. 1400 mi. and no problems yet with the air filter (I think) Still finding a small puddle on the crank case pushed up btw the seam of the 2 halves. Level not really going down though, so its minimal. Maybe a tablespoon every 100 miles.
