Who is going?

I am going along with about 4 friends from the BMOC Vancouver B.C area. About 5 or 10 more are going in other groups from here. I am leaving July 11th.

Im going along with 8 or so others, most of them on Vincents. Most of us are leaving from the Vancouver area, however a couple of riders are from the interior.
We are leaving early as we are stopping in Montana for a couple of days at a Vincent get together. Then on to the Norton Rally.
I really wanted to take the Commando but it has stopped charging and I havent had time to do the repair.

Several of the Northern California Norton Owners Club going. I'm leaving this Saturday with the 750 roadster on a trailer. It's over 1200 miles. See you there...David aka ILLF8ED.

Four of us are leaving from Vancouver tomorrow. Combined age of the four bikes is about 260 years, total mileage planned is about 12,000 (3,000 per bike)
Hopefully we have enough spare parts and tools!

What's the combined age of the riders? 520?

Not much over 400 actually, and there are two of us with some hair remaining, though not on our heads.

Still on the road!
2,748 miles travelled so far. Rode the Beartooth, what a ride that was. We did go to the Rally concours event, but it was cooking hot on the field (no shade)so we did not linger.

There are some pics up on the INOA Rally site. nortonrally.com/inoa-rally-2013
Also rode Bear Tooth today  .

As expected, there were some beautiful Nortons at the Concours. The red CNW fastback was my favourite Commando. I did not see a 650SS anywhere, although there were a number of Atlases.

The old bike ran great, broken speedo cable and that was it, other than a lost airfilter which I knocked off with my knee while rolling along at 75-80. The big red thing wired on there did the job for the return trip. 3100 miles total covered. Five Vincents did the trip, no problems other than minor stuff like my speedo/ airfilter.

I have a few photos I can post, from the ride to Ten Sleep:

Gas stop in Ten Sleep, WY. My bike is second from the left:

Powder River Pass, elevation 9666 ft. Note the snow fence. I think they have some blowing snow in the winter!

Of course I had to have lunch here:

I didn't see any of the Vincents. :? I don't know where you guys were hiding out! That one photo kind of looks like my hotel, too.

We were having a mini rally of our own in Laurel Montana so did not attend the main Norton Rally. We were down to Buffalo to see the Norton concours and briefly had the shiniest bike in our group entered in the "other British pre 1965" category." Unfortunately, the owner neglected to preregister for the Concours, so he had to withdraw the bike.
I saw a Norton-riding lady wandering thru the bikes and thought perhaps this was Debby, but then I got looking at the Manx, looked around again and they/you were gone.
We stayed on night at the mansion in Buffalo, which is definitely NOT a Mansion, but is an old B&B with an decent old Motel strip attached.

I went on the Little Big Horn battlefield ride on Thursday. Unfortunately Gar mentioned I had a flat rear tire at Kirby's Bar so got a ride in the chase truck for the remainder. Still haven't figured out what caused the flat.

Debbie,

Spoke to you briefly, but didn't run into you again. My apology. Thought we might by on a same ride after that.

Sorry we didn't get to talk more, David. I did the Kaycee ride on Thursday. Didn't make it over to the Concours. And then before I knew it, all over for another year. It was a great trip. Now I'm sitting here at work with the post-vacation blues...
